5 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A SELF-STORAGE FACILITY

Whether you are looking to store antique treasures, keep your vehicle safe while traveling, or stash extra belongings after moving, there are so many reasons to rent or buy storage space. Many people like the idea of self-storage, but if this is your first time signing on the dotted line, figuring out where to start may feel daunting. How do you know what features are most important to you, where your belongings will be safest, or even what size unit you need?

Here at The Hideout Storage Park, we care about these details as much as you do. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of five things you should look for before renting or buying storage space.

1. ACCESSIBILITY

One of the most important things to look for is the availability a self-storage facility offers so you can access your belongings whenever you need to. Don’t allow a facility to dictate for you when and how often you can visit your storage space—this is why we offer 24-hour access and electronic gate access. Get to your things when you need them most!

2. SECURITY

Although most self-storage companies will agree (and state upfront) that they are not responsible for the contents you choose to store, there are things they can offer to make sure that the space you move your belongings into—and the facility as a whole—is safe and secure. Look for features like fences, video monitoring, and security lights.

At The Hideout, security is a priority to us. That’s why our facility is fenced and lighted; we give our tenants electronic gate access; there are video cameras onsite around the premises, and a manager lives on the property. We want to do everything we can to protect your things and give you peace of mind.

3. LOCATION

There are a couple of factors you should consider when looking for a self-storage facility. For example, if you think you might need or want to access your things regularly, a location close to your home will be more convenient. Keep in mind, facilities closer to cities or high population areas may cost more.

If you are in the Naples, Marco Island, or Everglades areas, consider The Hideout Storage Park. Our facility is located four miles east of the intersection at U.S. Route 41 and Collier Boulevard.

4. PRICING

The first thing to assess is whether you want indoor or outdoor storage, and what size unit or space you need. Many storage companies offer various sizes depending on what you’re looking to store like business files, furniture, boats, or vehicles.

Here at The Hideout, we currently offer outdoor storage for RVs, boats, motorcycles, and a variety of other vehicles. Covered storage solutions are coming soon!

The Hideout is also home to Elite Motor Storage, an upscale storage condominium complex. Comprised of five buildings, our car condos are designed to store RVs, cars, boats, and the like. Units in our condo storage buildings range from 25’ x 55’, 20’ and 25’ x 50’ and are available for purchase.

Other things that will factor into the price of storage space include how long you plan to store your stuff, location, and additional amenities like air-conditioning. Consider these things before signing any lease or contract, and make sure to ask the company if they offer any specials or discounts. The worst they can say is no!

5. OTHER AMENITIES

Additional amenities aren’t required, but they really can set one company apart from another. Depending on the things you want to store safely, maybe you want to find a climate-controlled unit. Fire sprinklers and carbon monoxide detectors also add another layer of protection. If you want the ability to drive up to your unit, check the measurements of the driveway (if there is one). Buying or leasing larger storage space? Some facilities, like Elite Motor Storage, may offer private bathrooms and the option for loft areas.

Many of these amenities lean toward personal preference but can make or break whether a customer decides to move into a certain company’s storage facility or not.

Our team at The Hideout Storage Park cares about the safety and security of your personal belongings and offers a space for like-minded people to find community. For more information on who we are and what we offer, contact us here!

The Hideout is the ultimate in storage not just due to their fabulous facilities but even more so when it comes to their staff. Want to give a great shout-out to Heather, The Hideout's Office manager: She has been a treasure beyond measure!Way above her enumerated responsibilities, Heather has unfailingly assisted in receiving packages, and even very large shipments that are to be deposited in an owner's unit when the owner is not available (Ask me how I know! ).I am having a large expanse of my unit walls covered with slatwall, and the supplier initially (unknown to anyone) delivered an incorrect color - which then had to be retrieved by the shipper - and finally had to be replaced with the correct material.Through all of this Heather was unfailingly helpful, calling to let me know of the delivery, alerting me to any issues, and generally being my eyes and ears throughout the deliveries and pickup. One could not ask for more in the way of above-and-beyond assistance: Kudos to Heather for all her help!!!Steve FerrisHideout Unit Owner

I've been storing boats rvs and trucks for over 40 years, this complex is far superior than the rest. The owner and office manager are always on hand to answer any questions or help anyway needed. They consistently go above and beyond expectations. Great job!

I have to say this place just keeps getting better. I first moved here in 2016. My class c was there when Irma hit and not a single issue. My RV cover didn't even come off. I needed a place for my small class c. This was it. Very secure. I didn't worry about anything because at that time I was by the canal and if anyone got past the security gator they were lucky. (He was huge). Just recently had my travel trailer there and I didn't think customer service could have gotten any better because it's exceptional. I wouldn't use any other facility.Thank you for being there where it's needed.

Stored my boat at this facility for almost 2 years and have no complaints. The owner (who I've never met in person) helped me with a few setup challenges and he was extremely quick to respond. For as big of an operation, his customer service skills are A++. The only reason I am leaving the facility is to sell the boat I had in storage and upgrade to a different one. Once I have purchased my new boat, I am giving them a call to set me up with another storage space. Place has been super secure, and automated. Never an issue. Thanks guys!
